[SIZE="3"][color="Silver"]Creating glossy spheres in Photoshop is pretty easy and can be achieved by reading this tutorial.[/color][/SIZE]



[SIZE="4"][color="Silver"]Instructions:[/color][/SIZE]


1) Open Photoshop and create and new file. Make it the default size.

2) Create a new layer.

3) Select the 'Ellipse Tool' in the toolbar.

4) Press 'D' to make the foreground colour black.

5) Holding down the 'shift' key, drag diagonally down the canvas to create a perfect circle.

6) Right-Click the circle layer and select 'blending options' from the menu.


7) Check 'Inner Shadow' on the checkbox. Change the 'distance' to 0 px and the 'choke' to 17%

8) Check 'Gradient Overlay' on the checkbox. Use the default gradient and change the opacity to 60%

9) Create a new layer.

10) Press 'X' to switch the foreground and background colour, making the foreground colour white.


11) Select the 'Ellipse Tool' in the toolbar.

12) Holding down the 'shift' key, drag diagonally down the canvas to create a circle that is slighty smaller than the original circle so that it fits inside.

13) Press ctrl + T to use the transform tool. (Press Command + T if using a Mac)

14) Using the transform tool, hold down the 'shift' key and grab the bottom of the sphere and move it upward. Now scale it down by holding down the 'shift' key and grab either the left or right hand handle and move the mouse to the center of the sphere.

15) Right-click the inner-sphere layer you just transformed and select 'blending options' from the menu.

16) Check 'Gradient Overlay' on the checkbox. Use the default gradient and change the opacity to about 55%
Your image should look similar to mine:

The glossy sphere is almost finished, but needs a little more detail.


17) Shift-click the original sphere layer to select the sphere.

18) Create a new layer above the original sphere layer. Make sure that white is still the forground colour.

19) Select the 'Brush Tool' in the toolbar.

20) Change the 'brush size' to 300 px.

21) Drag the brush across the canvas a little below the bottom of the sphere.

The final result should look similar to the image below.
