Making a Theme - The in-Depth version
***Ipod Touch and iPhone Only***
Today I will be walking through the Creation of making Themes
Recommended App for those who cannot afford PhotoShop. The Gimp, Paint, Corel Draw, FireWorks
Wallpapers
Wallpapers are the base of every great theme, if you had a boring wallpaper that is just 1 color or 2 striped or something with no effects at all than no one would like your theme, except those who like simple things!
1st off make a new image thats is Width: 320 and Height: 480, this will be the base of your wallpaper, next create some interesting effects to make your wallpaper exciting, remember the key to a great theme is a great wallpaper. save as Wallpaper.png in your main theme folder
Icons
Icons are very important to a theme, if you have very low icon support who would bother to check your theme out? I wouldn't, before releasing your theme try and make lots of Icons that people will like, remember to not rush anything because "Quantity is much less important than Quality" (Quoted from CrazyLoof).
Make a new 60x60 image in your image editing software, now if you are creating original icons unlike the standards do whatever you would think is awesome! If you are using standards than try this tutorial to make standard ipod/iphone icon templates! Most icons in a theme have the same kind of style so try to keep a this throughout your theme.
Here is the Tut
Save as "apps_Name_here".png and put into Icons folder in your theme folder
Dock
Docks are also very important for a great theme! They add to your already almost finished theme if you are using this tutorial. Docks can boost the popularity of your theme or make it last nights dinner remains so remember to spend lots of time on this!
Make a new image Width: 320, Height: 90 and start messing around with some effects and shapes, Docks with a large middle icon are being overused now I think and would not be really original, try to stick with your own ideas here, remember it is Your theme. save as Dock.png in your main theme folder
Themes that should not be made over!
Vista theme - See Vista Maximus in Releases
Leopard Theme - Already lots of these!
Adding your theme to Winterboard
1. SSH in to your ipod
2. go to /var/root/library/Summerboard/themes
3. Drag your theme into there
Screenshots
1. Hold Home button and press power once while holding home button
