Hey everyone. I figured out an easier way to make iPhone/iPod Touch app icons. Heres how:
1. Open photoshop
![[Image: Image1.jpg]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn144/jthc-777/Image1.jpg)
2. Create a new document, default size
![[Image: Image2.jpg]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn144/jthc-777/Image2.jpg)
3. Make sure that your foreground color is set to black
![[Image: Image3.jpg]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn144/jthc-777/Image3.jpg)
4. Create a new layer and delete the background layer
![[Image: Image4.jpg]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn144/jthc-777/Image4.jpg)
5. Use the rounded rectangle tool
and hold down shift. Yours should look similar in size to mine.
6. Set your foreground color to white now. Now use the ellipse tool but don't hold down shift while you drag. Look at image #6 and see where to start & end
![[Image: Image6.jpg]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn144/jthc-777/Image6.jpg)
7. Now the oval is going way over the edges of the rounded rectangle so you want to ctrl-click on the first layer (the rounded rectangle layer) and then go to the menu select>Inverse![[Image: Image7.jpg]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn144/jthc-777/Image7.jpg)
8. Now select the oval layer and press the delete button (should be layer 2) and yours should look like image 8
![[Image: Image8.jpg]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn144/jthc-777/Image8.jpg)
9. Lower the opacity of the oval layer to something like 50% (layer 2 is now the gloss of the icon)![[Image: Image9.jpg]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn144/jthc-777/Image9.jpg)
10. Congradulations! You just made a cool icon.
If you want to put a picture in you icon just follow these steps:
This is assuming you've done the steps above.
1. Select layer 1
2. Copy and paste the image you want in your icon and it will end up as a layer between layers 2 and 1
![[Image: picicon2b.jpg]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn144/jthc-777/picicon2b.jpg)
3. Ctrl-click layer 1 (should be the rounded rectangle layer
4. Select layer 3 and press the add layer mask button
below the layers
5. That's it! Now you can adjust the opacity to your liking.

I hope this helped and was easier than iSimon's
